Quick Tips
3 of My Favorite Sam’s Club Items to Buy
Recently, I celebrated two years as a Sam’s Club member. While I initially joined thanks to an Amex Offer, it turns out my timing was about perfect as the warehouse store proved to be immensely useful in the early days of the pandemic (both in terms of stocking up and using their Scan & Go feature). Since then, we’ve started making near-weekly trips to our local store, making it our main grocery source. What’s more, we’ve decided to stick with Sam’s even though a Costco finally opened up in our area! With all that love, I thought it was high time I shared a few of the items we enjoy most from Sam’s Club — including some of their Member’s Mark private label picks.
Member’s Mark Buffalo-Style Boneless Chicken Bites
To those who say that boneless wings aren’t wings, I agree — and that’s why these are called “chicken bites.” Nevertheless, these are absolutely delicious. After about 20-25 minutes in the oven, these can be consumed on their own, served with a side of Member’s Mark Southern Style Waffle Fries, or cut up and placed into other dishes. Personally, I love using them for burrito bowls with rice and cheese.
Full disclosure: I actually used to eat a few of these each day with my lunch. However, I’ve since forced myself to mix it up with some of Sam’s Club cold cut turkey items instead. On that note, they do have a Buffalo style sliced chicken breast as well. So, if that’s half as good as these bites, that may be another winner to add to my lunch menu.
Member’s Mark Part-Skim Shredded Mozzarella Cheese
Now that my wife is no longer working on Friday nights, we’ve returned to our “Pizza Fridays” concept that finds her baking new pies each week. That’s where this surprisingly delicious and comically large (5 lbs) bag of mozzarella cheese comes in. Beyond the pizzas, we’ve used this for plenty of other Italian dishes — and it’s made a cameo in a couple of our EveryPlate meals just for fun. By the way, when we feel like going St. Louis style, our local Sam’s Club also sells Imo’s Provel cheese (if you don’t know, you’ll have to look it up). That’s fun every once and a while… but this mozz is a staple!

Sushi
Unless you’re a regular Sam’s Club visitor, I’d bet you didn’t see this one coming. Although Sam’s (like Costco) is known for their fresh and delicious rotisserie chickens, we’ve become big fans of their sushi selections as well. Specifically, we tend to opt for either the salmon and tuna nigiri combo or the “all tuna” pack, which consists of a tuna roll alongside several pieces of tuna nigiri. We’ve also coupled these with some of the bao or potstickers they have available, although we usually just stick with some extra rice and some green beans. While there is certainly better sushi to be found in the world, for the price and the setting, I have to say that this stuff is pretty darn good.
Despite our hesitation and thinking that warehouse club shopping wasn’t for us, we’ve actually been fairly successful with our switch. Plus, over the past two years, we’ve become fond of a few particular favorites among many other items we buy regularly. So, whether you’re new to Sam’s or a long-time member, I’d recommend giving these three items a try on your next trip to the Club.
