inside a Capital One Cafe in Las Vegas

How Did I Not Know About This Awesome Capital One Perk?

Earlier this month, I once again found myself in Las Vegas for CES. Each time this happens, I’m reminded of just how damn expensive The Strip has become. Seriously — $6 drip coffee, $9 cheese pizza slices, and a $14 cheese quesadilla that turns into a $23 quesadilla if you want to add a protein to it. Because of this, I’m always looking for ways to save money where I can, such as making my own coffee in the room. However, on this latest trip, I discovered another coffee-related “secret” that I can’t believe I didn’t know about earlier.

One of my money-saving oases in the desert is the Fashion Show Mall. Located just north of Treasure Island and across from the Wynn/Encore, the mall is where I head when I need a reasonably priced counter-service meal. Well, while on such a mission during my CES trip, I noticed that they had a Capital One Cafe. So, even though I was there to cut down on my spending, I decided I deserved a treat and headed inside.

After looking over their menu, I was torn between a Honey Lavender Latte and a Verve Cofee Roasters pour-over. I ended up going with the pour-over and, after ordering, figured I should pay with my Capital One Savor card given the location. Apparently, that was a very smart move because, when the cashier saw my card, my total dropped from $6.50 to just $3.25!

That’s right — when you use a Capital One credit or debit card at their cafes, you get 50% off. This was mind-blowing information! Of course, had I just looked at the sticker on the glass next to me, I would have known about this earlier (and, honestly, might have ordered both drinks).

As great as this perk is, the downside is that there aren’t any Capital One Cafes in my area. It appears the closest is in Kansas City (where, incidentally, I’ll be heading tomorrow). I also know from my visits that there are three in the Chicago area.

Basically what I’m saying is that, whenever I visit a new city now, I’ll be checking to see if there’s a Capital One Cafe nearby. If you too are a Capital One customer and love coffee, then I’d suggest you do the same! As for those who aren’t cardholders, even without this perk, I do think that the Capital One Savor card is a good cashback option, which is why it’s one of the cards I recommend most — the half-price lattes is just the whipped cream on top.
