The Legendary 100K Point Chase Sapphire Preferred Offer is “Ending Soon”
When I was a kid, decades before Disney+ was a thing, I remember seeing ads stating that it was the last chance to own a given Disney classic on home video before it returned to the Disney Vault. Well, that’s basically what’s happening with one of the most talked-about credit card intro bonuses. Only a few short weeks after the 100,000 point offer for the Chase Sapphire Preferred returned, the bank has now updated the card’s page to note that the deal is “Ending Soon.” So, before it slips away into that good night, let me review one more time why this offer is such a big deal.
Let’s first go over what the Chase Sapphire Preferred has to offer. With this case, you’ll earn 2x points on all travel purchases as well as 3x on dining and 5x on hotel and rental car bookings made via Chase Travel. However, the Preferred card’s superpower is that, with it, points can be redeemed for 25% more using Chase Travel. This means that, if you redeem your rewards in this way, you’d effectively be earning 2.5% back on generic travel purchases and 3.75% back on dining.
Next, while the card does have a $95 annual fee, it has some features that make up for that. Starting with your first cardholder anniversary year, you’ll earn a $50 Chase Travel Hotel Credit. As that implies, this credit can be used toward booking a hotel using Chase Travel. You’ll also earn an Anniversary Points Boost, equal to 10% of the points you earned from purchases during the past cardholder year.
Now for the big offer. Currently, new Chase Sapphire Preferred customers can earn 100,000 bonus points after spending at least $5,000 on the card within their first three months. That values this bonus at $1,000 in cashback — or $1,250 if you use them for Chase Travel bookings. After the annual fee is factored in, that’s still $1,155 profit.
As I mentioned before, my wife and I previously took advantage of this offer back in 2021. Of course, then, the spending requirement was only $4,000 compared to $5,000 this time. Still, this is a fantastic deal in the short term and the Chase Sapphire Preferred is a good starter travel card to hold long term.
