It’s Last Call for This Stellar Capital One Venture Welcome Bonus
Capital One is about to remove an outstanding offer for its versatile Venture Card — but there’s still time to claim it.
Right now, new Venture Rewards cardholders can not only earn 75,000 bonus miles after spending $4,000 on the card within their first three months but can also score a $250 credit to be used on Capital One Travel! In total, that’s up to $1,000 in travel for just $4,000 in spending and the card’s $95 annual fee. Unfortunately, according to Frequent Miler (a great site, by the way), this offer is set to expire on Monday, April 13th.
As I’ve discussed before, this is the same offer I was able to take advantage of almost exactly one year ago, meeting the minimum spend with a single tax payment. Since then, my miles have come in handy for a trip to Bentonville, Arkansas. I also recently redeemed my travel credit for a stay at my local four-diamond property, Hotel Vandivort, which happened to be part of the Capital One Lifestyle Collection.
While this welcome bonus is great, the Capital One Venture card itself can also be pretty useful. The card earns 2x miles on all purchases, as well as 5x miles on hotels, vacation rentals, and rental cars booked through Capital One Travel. You can also get up to a $120 credit for Global Entry or TSA Precheck application fees.
However, one thing to know is that, while Capital One miles can be used at a value of 1¢ per point toward any eligible travel purchase or transferred to various travel partners, if you want to use them for regular ol’ cashback, your value will be cut in half (0.5¢ each). This is honestly something I wasn’t aware of before getting the card, so I’ve now made it my duty to share this info far and wide. Still, even with that limitation, miles are pretty flexible as you can redeem any amount toward your travel purchase, whether that means covering the entire thing or even just a few dollars.
In my review, I wondered aloud whether the Capital One Venture card was worth the $95 annual fee since there are 2% cashback cards with no annual fee. I’m still wondering that as I come up on renewal, but I do appreciate having a true 2x card in my wallet, so I think I’ll give it another year.
Regardless of whether you intend to keep the card long term, I think this is an offer worth taking if you can meet the minimum spending requirement. So, if $1,000 in free travel sounds good to you, you’ll want to hop on this Capital One Venture Rewards card offer this weekend before it’s gone!
