Cheap Eats Alert: National Chicken Wing Day Deals

It seems like nearly every day of the year has suddenly become a “holiday” to celebrate a certain activity, object, or food. While the overall idea may be laughable to some, the silver lining to this silliness is that it 0ften results in some great deals. The latest example of this will arrive on Sunday, July 29th when chains across the country will celebrate National Chicken Wing Day.

This culinary celebration was first brought to my attention by Wingstop. According to an e-mail they sent my way, you can score 5 free wings at participating locations between 11 a.m. and 5 p.m on Sunday when you make any purchase. Those ordering online can use the code “5FREEWINGS” to take advantage of this deal.

Of course, Wingstop isn’t the only purveyor of chicken getting in on the action. As The Penny Hoarder reports, other popular spots like Hooters, Buffalo Wild Wings, East Coast Wings, and others will offer specials on the 29th. At Hooters, dine-in customers can enjoy 10 free boneless wings when they buy another 10 wings. Meanwhile, those dining at Buffalo Wild Wings (or “BW3” for you old-school weck fans) can get free snack wings when they also order small, medium, or large wings. As for East Coast Wings, “Taste the Rewards” members can score 50¢ bone-in or boneless wings throughout the day, although you’ll need to dine-in and this deal is limited to 25 wings.

If going to an actual restaurant where you need to sit among others and tip your waitstaff isn’t your speed, one of the more surprising National Chicken Wing Day offers comes from 7-Eleven. The iconic convenience store will be selling 10 wings for — you guessed it — $7.11 on both the 28th and 29th. Forgive my 7-Eleven ignorance and not knowing if this is a good deal or not (I didn’t even realize the chain was so into chicken to begin with) but hopefully this news will excite someone.

The moral of the story is, if you’re craving a meal out this weekend and don’t want to spend a ton, perhaps National Chicken Wing Day is worth celebrating. Additionally, those without any of these chains in their area may want to see if they’re favorite local wing spot is offering any specials of their own. In any case, if the abundance of “holidays” means more cheap food deals for us all, I say the more, the merrier!
