The last time we checked in on Fold, I shared a hack about how to get 5%+ back on Amazon… only for that option to be nixed not 48 hours after I wrote about it. While that was a setback, there’s been positive news from the Bitcoin rewards app as of late. And, now, Fold is giving those who sign up for their debit card 20,000 Sats.
During Fold’s “Super Squad Fest,” those who join the app using a referral link [like this one] and sign up for either the free Spin debit card or $10 a month Spin+ debit card by November 30th will earn 20,000 Sats. While that’s only about $4.32 given today’s pricing, it is an easy way to gain some Bitcoin that will hopefully be more valuable in the future. Plus, Fold states that growing your Spin Squad will increase your odds of winning the whole Bitcoin they’ll be giving away next month. Winning that would be far more lucrative as Bitcoin is currently worth more than $20,000.
I should also note that expanding your Spin Squad has lasting benefits on the platform. Every time a person you’ve referred uses their Spin card to make a purchase, you’ll earn between one and 50 free sats (the number is drawn at random). Again, that’s not much, but can add up over time.
While this Super Squad Fest may be a bit gimmicky, as I noted, Fold has recently made some positive changes. For one, after initially making Amazon gift card purchases a Spin+ card exclusive, they are now once again available to free Spin card customers. Now, you can purchase these gift cards and earn 2% back in Sats (Spin+ customers earn 5% back on up to $500 in gift cards per month). Incidentally, if you spend more than $200 a month on Amazon and buy your gift cards using Fold, you’d yield more than the $10 monthly fee for Spin+. Elsewhere, another recent change I’m a big fan of is that you can finally view a recap of recent rewards you’ve earned.
Despite there being a few ups and down — not unlike crypto itself — I continue to be a fan of Fold. Even as a free Spin customer, I’ve been able to find value in purchasing gift cards on the platform. On that note, I’m very glad Amazon gift cards are back, even if the earning rate isn’t as high as it once was.
