Chase Has Revealed New Designs for Its Disney Visa Cards
It isn’t too often that my two worlds collide, allowing me to talk about Disney and credit cards — but here we are. If you weren’t aware, this year, The Walt Disney Company is turning 100 years old. And while it already looks to be a tumultuous year for the conglomerate, the brand is celebrating with the aptly named Disney100 promotion.
This event will include new theme park offerings, an animated film called Wish that will apparently have nostalgic touches, and will, of course, feature plenty of merchandise. On that note, after first teasing it in October of last year, Chase and Disney have revealed a special metal Disney100 card design for the Disney Premier Visa.
This new card design features a classic Mickey and Minnie, the number “100,” and a platinum color scheme. Plus, as mentioned, the card is metal… if you’re Disney Premier Visa customer. Presumably, this means that a plastic version of the design will be available to those with the no-annual-fee Disney Visa.
In addition to this Disney100 design, it looks as though some other new art options have arrived as well. These include a retro-inspired Walt Disney World one, a card featuring the wicked Maleficent in profile, and another depicting Princess Tiana from Princess and the Frog. There’s still a total of 10 designs available at this time. Comparing the new and previous lists, it seems that the Tinkerbell, Mickey and Pals, and Millennium Falcon designs are being discontinued — along with the Walt Disney World 50th anniversary design, which makes sense now that said celebration is coming to a close after 18 months. Funny enough, despite what you might assume about me, I do not have either of these cards. Looking at the actual rewards of the regular Disney Visa and the $49 a year Disney Premier Visa, nothing too exciting jumps out. Instead, it’s really the perks — such as discounts on shopDisney and in the parks, as well as exclusive Parks character photo ops and more — that seem to be the reason why some of my friends are cardholders. Personally, it’s still not enough to persuade me, but more power to them.
The bottom line is that, if you are a current Disney Visa or Disney Visa Premier cardholder, you can choose a new design (if you wish) over on the Disney Rewards site. What’s more, it’s worth noting that authorized users can choose their own card design as well. As for everyone else, I don’t think that new designs — even a potential metal one — should sway you on whether or not these cards are right for you. Still, you can always take a closer look at the option over on the Chase site and see if the perks stack in your favor.
