Hilton is Offering Double Points on Hotel Stays This Summer

Hilton is making it easy to earn bonus points on hotel stays this summer. For stays from May 2nd to September 2nd, Hilton Honors members can earn 2x points. All you need to do is register on the Hilton site and you’ll be good to go. Of course, you will need to be a Hilton Honors member, but you can create a free account in order to participate.

When I say “Hilton stays,” I mean it in the broadest sense possible. That’s because all of Hilton’s brands are participating in the promotion. What’s also great is that this offer will still apply to stays you’ve already booked — provided that you register for the offer and the stay fits the criteria.

As for other quick notes, there’s no cap on the number of points that can be earned during this promotion. That said, Hilton does mention that certain brands in their portfolio have restrictions on the number of Base Points that can be earned on a single stay.

So, what happens if you have a stay booked that starts before May 2nd. Well, according to the Hilton FAQ, you’ll still get credit for the stay as long as it ends on or after that May 2nd date. However, on the other end, stays that start during the promotion period but end after September 2nd will not qualify for this bonus.

With the bonus points you can earn during this promotion, you’ll be closer to earning free nights at Hilton. On that note, perhaps the best way to redeem Hilton Honors points is via their 5th Night Free offer. Just as that name suggests, when booking stays with points, the fifth night of your stay will be free. The catch is that you will need to have at least Hilton Honors Silver status to earn this perk (I have Hilton Gold thanks to my American Express Platinum card).

Speaking of credit cards, these bonus points come in addition to any points you might earn via co-branded credit cards or having Hilton Honors Status. To be clear, the “double” applies to the Base Points, while other bonuses will then be added on top of that.

Given the low barrier to entry, registering for this Hilton promotion is pretty much a no-brainer. That’s why, even though I don’t currently have any travel plans for this summer that would involve a Hilton stay, I went ahead and joined anyway — just in case. In doing so, I found that “registering” was basically as simple as logging into my Hilton Honors account. So, regardless of your current itineraries or lack thereof, head to the Hilton site to ensure that, if you do stay this summer, you score yourself double points in the process.
