Uber app and Clear

New CLEAR Customers Can Currently Earn a $75 Uber Voucher

Are you someone who’s been curious about CLEAR but haven’t yet bothered to sign up for the service? Well, if you’re also an Uber user, then a current offer could help sweeten the deal. As The Points Guy reports, new CLEAR customers can earn a $75 Uber voucher when signing up via a special link. Be aware that CLEAR’s annual membership currently comes at a cost of $179.

If you’re not familiar with CLEAR, it’s a service that helps you save time at airport security as well as select other venues. At TSA checkpoints, CLEAR customers can use biometrics to confirm their identity and proceed through the screening process. While many might assume that the service is redundant for those with TSA Preβœ“, they actually work well in tandem as CLEAR helps you avoid waiting in line for the boarding pass and ID check step and Preβœ“ allows you to access a less intrusive and annoying screening process.

Back to the offer, incidentally, it could be an especially good deal for American Express Platinum users. That’s because, since the card’s update last summer, Platinum card members now get $179 annual credit for CLEAR. Of course, the card also earns $15 a month (plus a total of $35 in December) in Uber credits, so this $75 bonus should go nicely with that.

On the other hand, it’s not exactly clear (no pun intended) if this Uber promotion can be combined with the discounts that Delta and United frequent fliers are eligible for. Considering that those discounts could be $70 for those with elite status, that might ultimately be a better deal depending on how much you value Uber vouchers. Personally, the fact that I could use my discount, add my wife for another $60, and still come in below my $179 Amex statement credit cap was a better deal than paying full price and getting a deal like this.

If you’re a frequent traveler who encounters CLEAR-supported airports often but doesn’t yet have the service, this current deal could make a lot of sense. After all, this way you can get a free ride to the airport and breeze through security. As the summer travel season approaches, this could be one offer worth looking at.
