Previewing 2024 Black Friday Deals on Products I’ve Reviewed
Each year, I like to do a round-up of Black Friday/Cyber Monday deals being offered for the various products I’ve reviewed in the past. Of course, with these sales now regularly starting early, I figured it was worth looking at what deals were already available before checking back in next week. So, without further ado, here are some of the deals you can get on travel products, accessories, and other products I enjoy.
Solis
- Current Deal: 30% off hotspots (plus additional savings with ‘MONEY30’ code)
- Regular Price: $160 for Solis Lite, $400 for Solis 5G
Solis is keeping it simple again this year, offering a flat 30% off their two hotspot options: the Solis Lite and the Solis 5G. That brings prices down to $112 and $280, respectively. Actually, if you use my code MONEY30 at checkout, the prices fall to $106.50 and $266 — and both still come with 1 GB of global data per month for life.
I actually picked up the Solis 5G with last year’s sale and had a chance to try it while traveling this spring. With 5G’s reach growing, I do think it may be worth paying for this premium model. But, if you’re good with 4G speeds, then the Solis Lite still works well.
Rolling Square InCharge Cables
- Current Deal: Up to 40% off
- Regular Price: $35 for InCharge XL (6.6 ft.)
After seeing Rolling Square’s InCharge cables at CES years ago, I become a big fan. Whether you want a small keychain cable or a super long one, what’s great is that these singular cables adapt to offer USB-A, Micro USB, USB-C, and Lightning connections.
Admittedly, these may not be quite as game-changing as they once were now that iPhones have finally transitioned to USB-C. Then again, if you’re still rocking a pre-iPhone 15 model like I am, these clever cables are still incredibly useful, making this sale worth it.
Allbirds
- Current Deal: 30% off
- Regular Price: $145 for Wool Runner-Up Mizzles
For years, Allbirds Runner-Up Mizzles have been my go-to travel shoe. Not only are they comfortable and stylish but the water resistance has been a life-saver in both rain and snow.
Speaking of snow, the brand recently rolled out an even more weather-proof model called Runner-Up Protect (although I haven’t had a chance to try them yet). Anyway, with the 30% off, those new models come in at $105. As for the regular Runner-Up Mizzles, they seem to be even further discounted, coming in at just $72 a pair. That’s quite a steal, so I’d recommend checking them out for sure.
Suavs
- Current Deal: Up to 40% off
- Regular Price: $96 for Zilkers
When preparing for the past several trips I’ve taken, I’ll put my Allbirds on for the ride but will pack my Suavs Zilkers in my bag. That’s because these shoes take up next to no room in my luggage and the slip-on design makes them great for when I just want to run quick errands while traveling. These are also the only shoes I feel comfortable wearing without socks.
With this current sale of “up to 40% off,” it looks as though some color options for the Zilkers are $76.80 while others are $62.40. The mathematicians out there will notice that’s only 20% off, so I assume that it’s other models of Suavs that have larger discounts. But, while this might not be the most exciting sale, I still do love these shoes and would recommend them overall.
Jack Archer
- Current Deal: Up to 40% off
- Regular Price: $149 for Jetsetter Tech Pant
If you saw my pants showdown article, you’ll know that the Jack Archer pants were among my favorites (just behind the Lululemon’s I tried). Since writing that, just as my Allbirds have become my go-tos, I’ve taken plenty of flights while wearing the aptly named Jetsetter pants. I really love how comfy these pants are while looking good and offering some stain resistance.
Currently, you can pick up a pair of Jetsetter Tech Pants for $89 each — which is 40% off the $149 retail price. While I don’t know how often the pants actually go for that higher price, $89 is pretty good considering that the comparable Lululemon pants would be more like $130.
Yale
- Current Deal: Up to 60% off (most 20% off)
- Regular Price: $280 for the Yale Assure Lock 2 Touch with WiFi
When we bought our home last year, one of the first purchases we made for the house was a Yale smart lock. Although it was expensive, we’ve really enjoyed having and using it so far.
As luck would have it, you can currently save up to 60% on a similar lock. Well, actually, most of the Yale Assure Lock 2 models available are 20% off, while that 60% off is reserved for a very specific option: the Yale Assure Lock 2 Key-Free Touchscreen with Wi-Fi in Viva Magenta. Honestly, that model is quite a deal at $104 compared to $208 for a model closer to what we have. So, if you don’t mind the magenta color and the lack of a keyhole, this could be a ‘smart’ option.
Away
- Current Deal: 25% off
- Regular Price: $146 for The Everywhere Zip Backpack, $75 for the The Hanging Toiletry Bag
It’s now been three years since I purchased my Away Zip Backpack — and it’s been on every trip I’ve taken since. On top of that, the Hanging Toiletry Bag we purchased later on has also joined our regular luggage line-up.
If you’re interested in either, Away is having a 25% off everything sale. That makes the backpack $146 while the toiletry bag is currently $56. Yes, those are both still pretty pricey, but they are quality and have held up well for us.
Aeropress
- Current Deal: 25% off
- Regular Price: $50 for the AeroPress Go
Finally, as someone who loves having quality coffee even when on the road, the Aeropress Go has been a vital part of our travels. Coupled with a foldable electric kettle, we’ve been able to brew our favorite coffees in basically any hotel room — which not only saves us from having to drink the drek provided but also saves us money versus going to a Starbucks or wherever. For Black Friday, the Aeropress site is offering 25% off everything, making the Aeropress Go $37.47. That said, the same item is actually a bit cheaper on Amazon still (and, if you’re a Prime member, includes shipping unlike the Aeropress site). So, while I would recommend picking up an Aeropress Go, I’d stick with Amazon for buying it.
And there you have it! Keep in mind that this is only a partial list as not everyone has started their sales just yet. So, be sure to stop by next week as I look at all of the Black Friday and Cyber Monday deals I can find for items I love and use.
