Solis’s Travel WiFi Device End-of-Year Sale Got Even Better
It was only a couple of weeks ago that I wrote about Solis having a sale on its travel WiFi devices and data. Well, while that 25% deal was still pretty good, it turns out that they’re upping their game for the end of the year. Solis’ WiFi hotspot line-up includes the Solis Lite and the Solis 5G. Starting with the newer option, the Solis 5G breaks the mold from past Solis devices by offering a touchscreen interface and additional features such as SignalScan (which can help you find the best network). As you’d probably expect, it also supports 5G connection speeds.
Meanwhile, the Solis Lite is more akin to the company’s past devices — including the one I first purchased back in 2019 before upgrading to the Solis 5G last year. Although the Lite is the more affordable option, the downside is that it doesn’t support 5G and is limited to 4G LTE. Nevertheless, you can connect up to 10 devices at a time to your Lite (whereas the 5G model can be used with up to 16 devices at a time).

One of the reasons why I decided to upgrade to the Solis 5G last year (in addition to the faster data speed potential) was the fact that Solis now offers lifetime data for new devices. This means that you’ll get 1 GB of global data each month for the life of your device. Notably, this allotment is tapped before any other data plans or packages you might purchase are used. Also, Solis data plans are supported in more than 135 countries, making these devices perfect for travel.
With the lifetime data allotment, I not only take my Solis devices with me overseas but have also used them as a backup when traveling domestically or even staying at home. Funny enough, while testing my 5G device on a trip to Chicago, I found that I was getting faster connection speeds from my Solis than I was from the hotel WiFi. The device has also come in handy in those times when my home WiFi and/or power have gone out and I don’t want to burn the battery on my phone by tethering.
