An Ode to T-Mobile Tuesdays

It’s now been two and a half years since my wife and I decided to move to T-Mobile. In that time, I’m talked a lot about some of their auxiliary perks such as T-Mobile Money and, um, data breaches? Setting that latter one aside, one benefit I haven’t really talked about much is T-Mobile Tuesdays. Yet, this app has delivered some gems — including one this past week.

T-Mobile Tuesday is a standing promotion where the telecom offers various coupons and freebies to users each week. More often than not, these are small discounts, branded swag you can pick up at T-Mobile retail locations, or promos that are only slightly enhanced from what you might find elsewhere. There are also times when they give away gift cards — but we’ll talk about those later (and why they’re always a cluster). Anyway, in order to snag one of these deals, you’ll need to download the T-Mobile Tuesdays app. Then, it’s just a matter of checking in once Tuesday rolls around.

T-Mobile Tuesdays' app

In the past, we’ve taken advantage of a few T-Mobile Tuesday offers that have resulted in free T-Mobile scarfs, a few bucks in Dunkin’ Donuts gift cards, and a couple of other small things that escape my memory right now. As I alluded to, the app also occasionally runs gift card drops where you come back to the app at a certain time during the day in order to score $5 or less for a certain retailer. I’ve actually been fairly successful with these, nabbing gift cards for Target, Starbucks, and Panera in the past.

Yet, it hasn’t been easy, as the app inevitably crashes every time one of these drops happens, resulting in several minutes of frustrating errors. Plus, even after you secure your card, you need to remember to return to the app the next day to see how to claim it. It’s annoying, to be sure, but free money is free money.

So what happened this past week that put T-Mobile Tuesday on my brain? Well, the app had an offer for Goldbelly, allowing customers to earn $25 off a purchase of $25 or more. If you read my review of Goldbelly, you’ll know that I was a fan but that the service can be pricey. However, with few restrictions to this deal, I was able to pick another one of the B&W Bakery crumb cakes that my wife and I really loved the first two times we ordered them (both times we made use of an Amex Offer that helped justify the cost). As good as these cakes are, they’re not $40 good. But $14 good? Hell yes!

All in all, this past week’s deal was a great reminder for me to keep on checking T-Mobile Tuesdays. Even if most weeks are tickets for a movie I don’t want to see or another $1 to Dunkin’, there are occasionally some worthwhile deals I want to take advantage of — and it’s just another reason I’ve been enjoying being a T-Mobile customer… even if there have been some hiccups. With that, if you are a T-Mobile or Sprint customer, be sure to download the T-Mobile Tuesday app and enable notifications so you don’t miss any offers.

I don't remember the last time I paid for a checked bag on a plane. Granted. I've paid for carry-ons while flying Allegiant — but, in the cases where I have elected to check a bag in recent years, it's been a free gate check since I occasionally volunteer to part with my bag early...
